A Winter’s Walk…

Do I acknowledge the truth this stream is speaking?

the babbling water against stone is a gift . . .

But , do I have courage to listen deeper still,

in this chilled, desert-forest . . . leaf-less, barren and vulnerable?

Years of pain and joy are evident –-

earth and water in relationship . . .

a long dance of love and friction;

On the way, barriers encountered . . . detours necessitated;

birthing new opportunities — new possibilities —

to explore . . . to receive as a gift;

Carved beauty from years of a committed journey;

Mystery echoing from creation’s dawn —

whispers of Mystery in the pilgrimage ahead . . .

Do I feel the Peace in the flow of water? the foundation of earth?

so is life . . .

so are life’s questions . . .

so could be my living . . .

Born with all we need…

Born with all we need –

the love of Love already given;

the image of Creator within creation…

too soon we abandon all that is needed –

using these gifts as bargaining chips;

giving away the essence of our being too easily;

believing that who we are is not enough.

We believe we can become more by willing our power –

our God-created self;

the essence of who we are and created to be –

over to others (who do not believe in themselves);

to those who seek their own ego gain.

We lay these precious gifts in the arms of the temporal

hoping for affirmation and approval –

the gratification from the immediate and the tangible

is more seductive than waiting;

less threatening than delving into a deeper knowing and trust;

risking what might be is scarier than releasing responsibility…

Or so it seems…

But we know…

we can feel it…

we can sense it…

like a flowing river deep within –

communion between Creator and creation,

filling our empty soul.

How I long to live in this sacred space…

trusting in all I need –

Love bathing the loved;

Creator within creation…

Creation’s curriculum…

What is this pressure I feel?

I can’t do this straight-lined reasoning —

I’ve tried to live the linear life . . .

climb the ladder . . .

This is not Creation’s curriculum

Paradoxes, anomalies, and mysteries are all about . . .

Why is it we only look up to the heavens for Light?

Could it be Illumination is also underneath?

Underneath the depths of our shadows and darkness . . .

We will only know if we “ride our monsters all the way down!”*

I have heard it said that Light keeps shining in the dark,

and the darkness cannot over take it . . .

Mystery and Paradox —

Creation’s curriculum . . .

The Loudest Silence…

CLINGMANS DOME SUNSET THREE

The morning light wakes revealing beauty with sacred homage.

Awareness stirs.

Clouds float on a wind’s whisper with noiseless grace;

inviting Light to come out to dance and play . . .

Nothing speaks as loud as the silence of creation . . .

longing to be lost in the hues of life…

to be a silhouette – defined by unfathomable Light…

lost in the glow of Hope and Mystery…

a part of creation being celebrated by the Creator…

Life’s Journey…

13 07 2012

Life’s journey;

Longing for it to be as straight as this Eastern Shore road . . .

sometimes;

It seems straight would be easier —

see where you’ve been . . .

see where you’re going.

Does “straight” invite us to know the depth of who we are though?

Are the curves and the “around-the-bends” given as gifts?

A gift of opening?

to authenticity?

to exploration of self?

to connection with others?

to celebrating creation?

Or could it be that the curves and “around the bends” entice us;

Craving to know what is yet to be;

Hypnotized by future gazing –- dwelling there, missing now . . .

Straight road;

Crooked road —

both have their joy and dangers

maybe the most important part is just the next step —

from the past,

toward the future,

living in the now . . .

being present to Presence . . .

Welcoming Slowness…

10 07 2012

Slowness’ presence is elusive at times;

Blurred by the “speed-of-light” living.

But if we welcome its spirit…

if we wait and allow ourselves to be still…

if we let it seep into the fibers of our being…

invite it in for a cup of tea…

Then we begin to perceive life beyond our vision;

imagination and Spirit begin to play…

deep Truths begin to emerge.

We become aware of life around us in ways living harried will not allow:

nature’s silent bursts of fireworks in hues unmatched…

silhouetted designs against life’s palette…

Creator and creation dancing one with the other…
